Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – The Texas Legislature is working on a multi-million dollar plan to beef up security at the state capitol. Flower Mound Republican Senator Jane Nelson says the plan would cost $39 million over a two year period, and would provide capitol security with more bomb-sniffing dogs, 74 new hires, and additional gear such as video cameras and panic buttons. The plan was developed by state police after an evaluation by the Secret Service, and appears to have the near-unanimous approval of the leaders of both houses.
