A third resident of north Texas has been arrested for alleged involvement with the mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters that stormed the U.S. Capitol last week. Federal authorities say 58 year old Troy Anthony Smocks urged an armed effort to hunt down Democrats and others. Smocks was arrested Friday, and faces a charge of knowingly and willfully transmitting threats in interstate commerce. Prosecutors say Smocks posted on Parler, a Twitter-like social-media site popular with conservatives and others who believe Twitter censors their speech, calling for a broadening insurrection. He claimed “We will come in numbers that no standing army or police agency can match.” Prosecutors say Smocks also called for retaliation against those he described as traitors: “Lets hunt these cowards down like the Traitors that each of them are. This includes RINOS, Dems, and Tech Execs.” According to investigators Smocks had purchased a plane ticket to leave the United States for another country Friday morning before he was arrested. The complaint against him did not say where Smocks may have been intending to go.
