Some DISD Students May Soon Have A Longer School Year

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Independent School District is trying to find a way to help students who aren’t doing well with the on-line learning imposed on them by the coronavirus pandemic. DISD’s Board of Trustees considered three alternate school calendars during Thursday night’s meeting. Two of them would extend the school year for five additional weeks. The idea is to start classes a week earlier than the district does now, and finish the school year four weeks later. DISD says too many students are falling behind with the way things are now, and additional instruction would really benefit them. The Trustees plan to vote on the three proposals later this month.
