Washington (WBAP/KLIF) – President Donald Trump speaking out for the first time since the riots at the Capitol building last week. Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said on a GOP conference call on Monday that the president told him that he admits to ‘some’ responsibility of the violent uprising that resulted five deaths, including a Capitol Police officer.

Multiple news organizations are reporting the information. Two GOP sources familiar with the call confirmed McCarthy’s comments.

McCarthy also reportedly told fellow GOP lawmakers that there is “undisputedly” no evidence that the Capitol riot was perpetrated by people linked to Antifa, according to Axios.

Meantime, in a private phone call with the President, Trump reportedly openly blamed Antifia for storming the Capitol.

McCarthy is quoted as telling President Trump, “It’s not Antifa, it’s MAGA. I know. I was there.”

Trump will travel to Texas to trumpet one of the pillars of his presidency: his campaign against illegal immigration. Today’s trip is part of an effort by aides to try to salvage a Trump legacy that will forever be stained by the siege on the U.S. Capitol.
