Dallas-Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A rare COVID-related illness in children has 5 kids hospitalized at Cook Children’s Hospital.

Parents of these children are just learning about Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome in Children or MIS-C.

The symptom list includes fever, gut pain and vomiting and can present in children weeks after they’ve recovered from COVID-19.

A 5-year old girl who is said to be the most severe cases of the illness was admitted to the high fever extremely and severely swollen eyes, nose and mouth.

Peyton Copeland’s mother Tara Copelend tells our media partner WFAA-TV that her condition at this time is “day-to-day.”
