Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price Will not Seek Re-election

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Ft. Worth Mayor Betsy Price has announced she will not seek a sixth term in office.

Price, who is 71, said she hopes to spend more time with her grandchildren.

“It’s a hard decision but it’s the right thing at this time,” said Price. Coming to that conclusion is nothing that we came to lightly.

She’s has led the city for 10 years, making her the longest serving mayor in the city’s history.

“Today Fort Worth is a thriving, diverse, and fiscally responsibly strong community,” Mayor Price touted. “We have a sustainable pension fund and we cut our tax rate $.12, that’s significant.”

The announcement comes just days before candidates can begin filing to run for municipal office. The general election will be held May 1st.
