PLANO (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Plano nonprofit is hosting a massive giveaway next week to help spread some holiday cheer to North Texans in need.

EveryoneEatz founder Ram Mehta said they’re planning to give away a new car, 2,000 meals, 1,000 toys, hundreds of shoes, dental kits, face masks and provide COVID-19 testing at Fenton’s Dance Factory next Wednesday, December 23rd.

Mehta, owner of In-Fretta Pizza in Plano, said his altruism started before the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March. He remembered a promise he made to his late mother.

“When I was opening the restaurant she asked me to put a sign outside…she was a very giving lady…that if someone can not afford it it’s free. No questions. No judgments. So, we’ve had the sign outside for two years,” he said.

The ongoing pandemic has only increased the amount of North Texans in need, Mehta said he had to close one of his restaurants down, but that didn’t stop him to continue to provide food and comfort for others.

“I realize the need is more than ever. People who had good jobs, they lost them. They’re struggling,” he said. When word of EveryoneEatz’ efforts spread, more people joined in to help, including at next week’s giveaway.

In addition to EveryoneEatz members and volunteers, some Dallas Cowboy players will help distribute meals. Their will also be live performances, a DJ and free photos with Santa.

Since the nonprofit got started, its members have served 407,000 meals and show no signs of slowing down.

Mehta said hosting free food distributions and this giveaway is a part of a larger plan woven into the fabric of what it means to be a community.

“Humanity and karma is what we believe in. I am from India and as you do good you get good. Don’t expect anything back but when you do good it makes you feel good and God is there for you,” he said.

Fenton’s Dance Factory is located at 910 West Parker Rd. The event is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
