
UNDATED (WBAP/KLIF) – Three people from Tyler are in custody in Las Vegas following Thanksgiving Day shootings in the city before their arrests in rural Arizona.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, brothers Shawn & Christopher McDonnell, and Christopher’s wife Kayleigh Lewis were arrested after “several vehicle-to-vehicle shootings.”
Christopher McDonnell told investigators his brother Shawn told him to “shoot the black guy” and referenced an “upcoming war.”
According to Henderson (Nevada) Police records, 22-year-old Kevin Mendiola Jr. was killed and three others were injured in one of the shootings in front of a 7-Eleven.
Four other shootings happened on roadways around the same time, according to a Henderson police report, which said that at least 10 people were targeted. The crimes continued across the border in Parker, Arizona, targeting at least five more vehicles before they were arrested.
Authorities found three handguns, two machete-style knives and a baseball bat in the wrecked black Toyota with dark tinted windows.
The trio could eventually face the death penalty.
