Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF)- A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of Atatiana Jefferson, the 28 year old woman who was killed in her home by a now former Fort Worth police officer last October.
On October 12, 2019, a neighbor had called the police non-emergency line for a welfare check after noticing the front door of the home open and the lights on around 2:30 a.m.
Jefferson was staying with her mother who was recovering from surgery. On that fateful night she was playing video games with her young nephew when she heard a noise outside.
Her nephew told police that his aunt grabbed a gun and pointed it at the window, then she was shot.
An arrest warrant affidavit says that Officer Aaron Dean and another responding officer did not announce themselves at the home. Dean is charged with murder; he resigned from the police force before he could be fired.
