City of Colleyville Sends Residents Gift Cards to Spread Holiday Cheer and Support Local Businesses

COLLEYVILLE (WBAP/KLIF)- The City of Colleyville is mailing out 10,000 gift cards to all residents for the holiday season.

“The goal is to get people shopping locally. The cards are good for any Colleyville business who chooses to accept,” said Assistant City Manager Mark Wood.

Each gift card is for $35 and businesses will exchange the cards for a check from the city.

Wood said the city’s two greatest resources are its residents and its businesses and this program really matches the two.

“If a family is struggling, if there’s a need, hopefully this gift card will help them find a little joy this Christmas season and hopefully it can also help a business that is struggling,” said Wood. “They have chosen to invest in Colleyville, now it’s our time to invest in them,” he said.

The Colleyville City Council also approved to send out $50 gift cards to local places of worship to distribute to families who could use a little extra help this year.

“They can use that to buy groceries to put food on the table or fill up the gas tank to get to a job interview or something like that,” said Wood.

Wood said the city has done this program in the past but with Covid-19, it’s now more important than ever to help support local businesses and the residents who have been impacted.

The Colleyville holiday cards should come in the mail this week.
