Texas Social Worker Charged with 134 Counts of Election Fraud

MEXIA (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Mexia social worker is facing 134 counts of election fraud for allegedly submitting voter registration applications for dozens of mentally incapacitated residents of the Mexia State Supported Living Center.

According to the Election Fraud Unit of the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Kelly Reagan Brunner acted as the agent for 67 residents and submitted the applications without their signature or consent.

In a statement, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in part:

“Registering citizens to vote or to obtain mail ballots without their consent is illegal…particularly when individuals purport to be champions for disability rights,” he wrote.

If convicted, Brunner faces up to 10 years in prison.

Mexia is about 85 miles south of Dallas.
