(WBAP/KLIF) — The Metroplex has seen more than 210,000 COVID-19 tests in 2020, as Texas nears a million cases. North Texas has over 2,200 deaths. Dallas county eclipsed 100,000 cases, Friday with 1,127 pandemic deaths. Tarrant county has over 72,000 positive tests and 757 fatalities, while Collin county is approaching 20,000 confirmed Coronavirus cases and 198 deaths. Denton county surpassed 18,000 cases and sits at 138 fatalities.
Texas is closing in on 19,000 deaths after 136 were reported Friday. Although the Dallas-Fort Worth area is experiencing a surge in positive Coronavirus tests, the mortality rate of the virus continues to fall. Dallas county reported almost 1,300 newly confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, Friday, while Tarrant county listed almost a thousand. Collin county reported 221 new cases and Denton county had 214.
However, the mortality rate in Tarrant county dropped to 1%. Dallas county’s death rate is 1.1%, Collin county’s has a 1% rate, while Denton county’s fatality rate is 0.8%.
