Voter Turnout could Reach Levels Not Seen in Over a Century

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – There will likely be long lines on Election Day even though 2016 records were broken in Texas before early voting was over.

SMU Political Science Professor Dr. Cal Jillson says we are projected to see the highest voter turn out in over 100 years.

“People are taking an extraordinary interest in this election on both sides. Republicans want to see a second term for Donald Trump and democrats want to send him back to Mar-a-Lago,” Jillson said.

We have seen projected voter turnout before but it has been more than a century.

“We are likely to see the highest turnout in this election in 100 years. You have to go back to 1908 to find turnout over 65 percent of eligible voters and I think we are going to get there,” Jillson said.

Jillson believes that we will likely have a good idea on who will win by election night or into the next morning.

“We may have a pretty good idea on election night and I think we will have an even clearer idea the next morning even though it may take a couple more days to count all the ballots,” Jillson said.
