North Texas Businesses Boarding Up with Talk of Potential Unrest After Election

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A number of North Texas businesses are playing it safe with talk of potential unrest after Tuesday’s election results are tallied.

Stores and restaurants in Downtown Dallas, Victory Park, and parts of Fort Worth are boarding up windows in case of looting or riots.

“We’re using a mallet and screwing them up tight,” said a man boarding up entrances outside boutiques in Dallas’ South Victory.

The preparation comes as some downtown businesses are still financially recovering from damage caused in riots over the summer. Business owners and nearby residents said Monday that it’s best to take precautions.

“It is a little concerning to see,” one Dallas resident said.

“I’m probably not going to go to work for the next several days,” contemplated another.

Police in North Texas plan to beef up patrols following election day. The National Guard is standing by to assist state troopers with any unrest.
