DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Department is investigating the shooting death of an SMU student over the weekend in Downtown Dallas.
According to DPD, Officers responded to a shooting call at the intersection of S. Harwood Street and Jackson Street around 3 a.m. Halloween morning. Police found 19-year-old Robert Urrea laying in the intersection with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the location and pronounced the SMU student dead.
Detectives were able to locate surveillance video of a vehicle and suspect interacting with Urrea. The video shows that once the vehicle leaves, Urrea falls to the ground. The vehicle then drove away. The suspect vehicle, is described as a white 4-door, possibly a Ford, with a sunroof and custom wheels.
DPD Major Danny Williams said Saturday that the department is ramping up patrols in Downtown Dallas following multiple murders in the area.
“We’re putting more resources on the problem,” said Major Williams. “So that we can immediately gain evidence and intelligence so that we can put people in jail.”
Detectives are asking if anyone has any information on the vehicle or suspect to contact Detective P. Belew: [email protected] or by phone at: 214-422-9275.
