Dallas Sports Hero Distributes Food to Families Struggling During Pandemic

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A Dallas sports legend is lending a hand to North Texas families struggling financially during the coronavirus pandemic.

Retired Dallas Mavericks Star Dirk Nowitzki strapped on his mask and slid on his gloves at the Mark Cuban Heroes Basketball Center in South Dallas on Thursday, passing out hundreds of food boxes to families in need during a drive through donation event.

“The need is there,” Nowitzki emphasized.

He said he’s seen resiliency and a desire to help across the community since the pandemic began.

“In tough time people come together and try to help people out,” he said. “That’s what this is all about.”

The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation is planning several more drive thru donations planned before Christmas.
