DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Medical experts and local leaders across North Texas are closely watching local statistics surrounding COVID-19 as cases and hospitalizations experience an uptick.
Dallas County Health and Human Services reported 382 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Dallas County on Monday, for a cumulative total of 90,318 confirmed cases including 1,085 confirmed deaths. No additional deaths were reported.
“We’re seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases in our hospitals and in positive testing and now is a critical time for us to get the numbers going back in the right direction. We know what we need to do, we just need to do it,” said Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. “Wear your mask and avoid crowds. Maintain six-foot distancing and use good hand-washing practices. It’s up to all of us to flatten the curve and the best way to do that is to follow the advice of doctors.”
Tarrant County reported 388 cases on Monday. Collin County reported 75 additional cases. Denton County Public Health announced Monday that one Denton County community member has died as a result of COVID-19, bringing the total to 118 deaths due to COVID-19 in Denton County. The death was a male in his 50’s who was incarcerated in Denton County Jail.
“Today, we are reporting the death of an individual who was incarcerated at the Denton County Jail and had been under treatment at a hospital in connection with COVID-19,” said Denton County Judge Andy Eads. “We ask that you keep this individual’s family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Eads said the county has continued safety measures in the Denton County Jail which were implemented from the beginning of the pandemic.
