Coronavirus Surges in El Paso

(WBAP/KLIF) — El Paso area health officials have reported their highest number of Coronavirus hospitalizations since the pandemic began.

The city reported, Sunday, that a record high 449 hospitalizations were reported on Saturday, with 129 patients in intensive care.  The Texas Department of Health and Human Services says the city has only seven intensive care unit beds available.

The increase in hospitalizations has prompted city leaders to tighter restrictions to combat the spread of COVID-19. in addition, Governor Greg Abbott is sending medical personnel and supplies to the area.
