DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The first day of early voting in November’s general election brought big crowds to the polls in North Texas on Tuesday.
Long lines were reported at many polling places but poll workers kept voters socially distanced the best they could.
The American Airlines Center and the Allen Events Center both opened as mega centers to allow for more space and smaller lines amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m over sixty and I have health issues but I feel safe,” a Dallas voter said outside the AAC.
“I felt like there was more room between people,” said another voter. “One way in and one way out, so I didn’t really come into contact with anybody.”
County and election leaders said they were impressed with the high voter turnout on day one of early voting.
