Wolfe City Officer Fired Following Deadly Shooting

(L-R) Wolfe City Police Officer Shaun Lucas, Jonathon Price, 31)

WOLFE CITY (WBAP/KLIF) – Leaders in the Hunt County Town of Wolfe City have fired the white officer charged with murder in the shooting death of a 31-year-old black man.

The Mayor and City Council in Wolfe City said Thursday that they join the community in mourning the loss of Jonathan Price.

“We also ask that you remember our city employees, many of whom worked with both Mr. Price and Mr. Lucas as we eventually begin the work of healing our own town and the community at large,” the city said in a statement.

Price was killed after the Texas Rangers say Shaun Lucas shot him four times outside a Wolfe City gas station. Lucas claims Price was ignoring commands but investigators ruled the shooting wasn’t reasonable.

According to the statement from the city, Lucas was fired for his “egregious violations” of city and department policy.

A funeral service for Price is set for Saturday in Wolfe City.
