Design Process for National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington Underway

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The National Medal of Honor Museum is one step closer to opening in Arlington.

It’s been one year since the National Medal of Honor Foundation chose Arlington to be the host for the new museum, now the design process is underway.

Sitting on 5 acres in Arlington’s entertainment district, museum president and CEO Joe Daniels says this will definitely be a must see.

“It’ll be a place filled with life and energy, you can go to Rangers and Cowboys Games, Texas Live and also go to the museum and learn about this country and where we came from,” said Daniels. “Despite the challenges our country and the world have faced this year, the National Medal of Honor Museum and Foundation are proud to report that Americans’ commitment to honoring our heroes remains unbroken. 2020 will be a landmark year for our organization.”

The group highlighted the progress made in the past year towards building the Museum, which will dedicate to honoring about 4,000 brave Americans who received the nation’s highest award for valor in combat.

So far the foundation has raise more than $61 million, putting the Museum project ahead of schedule.

The Museum will provide an unrivaled visitor experience with state-of-the-art permanent, interactive experiences and rotating exhibitions. It will feature multiple large presentation rooms, as well as a steel dedication slab held up by five columns.

Serving as a national landmark, the Museum will illustrate the historical thread of sacrifice, patriotism and courage that runs through all U.S. military service members, past and present. The museum will also include an education center aimed at character development in our nation’s youth, using the stories of Medal of Honor recipients to inspire young people and motivate them to be their best selves.
