COVID Hits Travel Industry Harder Than the Great Depression

(WBAP/KLIF) — Coronavirus has now hit the travel industry worse than the Great Depression. That’s the word from the U.S. Travel Association which cites a 51% loss of industry jobs.

The organization’s Tori Emerson-Barnes says 40% of all unemployment during the pandemic has been travel-related.  The group is petitioning Congress to pass an emergency relief package for the travel industry before law makers head into recess for the election.

Many travel-related businesses are hanging on for dear life as the Coronavirus has halted their industry.  Hotels, restaurants, attractions, tour bus companies, as well as airlines have lost 51% of their workforce during the shut down.  She is calling on congress to pass a relief bill before the election recess.
