NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WBAP/KLIF News) – The country music world has lost a legend.
Singer, songwriter for Elvis Presley, actor and TV host Mac Davis has died at 78.
The Lubbock, Texas native’s manager said he passed away Tuesday after heart surgery, according to the Associated Press.
Some of his more notable hits for Presley included “A Little Less Conversation” and “In the Ghetto.” He also had his own hit songs including “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me” and “Stop and Smell the Roses.”
Davis was named Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year in 1974 and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.
When word of his death spread, fellow entertainers and fans shared their feelings on social media.
