DENTON (WBAP/KLIF)- A Tarrant County Deputy has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence, according to the Denton Police Department.
Denton Police say on August 26th, Deputy Jay Rotter called 911 to report his girlfriend had shot herself. Police say detectives found evidence that linked the 36-year-old deputy to the death of his girlfriend and arrested him Monday morning.
Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said the department is shocked and saddened by the news. In a letter Waybourn says, “We have very little information regarding the situation at this time. We believe in the criminal justice process and the truth will prevail. The Denton Police Department, in Denton County, is the arresting agency and the investigation is on-going.”
Waybourn said Rotter has been employed with TSCO since 2005 and was assigned to the Narcotics Division.
