Amazon is Hiring Thousands of Workers, Including 6500 in Dallas

Dallas-Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – Amazon has announced that its hiring 6,500 people in Dallas area and hundreds of thousands nationwide.

The company website says the positions will be part- or full-time in several areas of the company from packing to shipping, sorting orders or logistics.

The announcement is not related to its typical holiday hiring.

Amid the COVID pandemic, business has been booming at the mega-online retailer; it made record profit and revenue between April and June.

Amazon had already added 175,000 staffers earlier this year to keep up with the rush of orders; and, there is another 33,000 corporate and tech jobs it needed to fill.

Immediate need is for workers for 100 new warehouses, package sorting centers and other facilities it’s opening this month.

Across the metroplex, Amazon also opened a new fulfillment center in Dallas earlier this year, and will have three new delivery stations in Fort Worth, Frisco and Forney, according to the spokesperson.

Starting pay for new hires is $15 an hour.
