Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas’ Northpark Center was damaged by a fire Saturday afternoon. The blaze was ignited by construction in what will be the shopping mall’s Eataly Marketplace when it opens later this year. The Center’s management describes Eataly Marketplace as “a three-story food hall and Italian grocery.” Dallas Fire-Rescue says the fire started when construction ignited the belt of a nearby out-of-service escalator. The flames were quickly doused, but it took some time to clear smoke out of the building, and North Park Center was evacuated until firefighters issued the all clear.
