COVID-19 Case Numbers at SMU Continue to Rise

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- COVID-19 cases at Southern Methodist University continue to rise.

On Friday, SMU announced that 17 students and one staff member had tested positive for the virus, bringing the total to 237. The university announced 103 cases in the just the past week.

WFAA-TV reports that 99 people are quarantining on campus. SMU is providing isolation spaces throughout the campus, which is currently at 47% capacity.

On the brighter side of things, the states overall positivity rate is currently at it’s lowest point since June after dropping to 6.9% on Friday. The highest it has been was 24.5% in August.
