Texas Approaches 650,000 Positive Coronavirus Tests

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas is approaching 650,000 confirmed positive tests of Coronavirus and nearly 14,000 deaths.  Dallas county has almost 75,000 positive tests, Tarrant county close to 44,000, Collin county is nearing 12,000, while Denton county has almost 11,000 positive tests.

Many of the reporting counties have not indicated whether the positive tests throughout the pandemic are duplicate tests from the same patient. Denton county reported, Thursday, that 60 of the 69 additional positive tests came from active cases of Covid-19.

The Coronavirus pandemic has reportedly claimed the lives of 161 Texans, Thursday.  Of the nearly 1,800 Covid-19 deaths in North Texas, 964 are in Dallas county, 591 in Tarrant, 122 in Collin county, and 105 in Denton.

The mortality rate in the DFW area is 1.2%. Denton and Collin counties sit at a 1% fatality rate, while Tarrant county has a 1.4% rate, and Dallas county’s rate is 1.3%.  Meanwhile, the Metroplex Coronavirus positive case count has eclipsed 141,000.

In Denton county, 69 new positive tests were reported, however 60 of those came from active cases. Dallas county reported 152 additional positive test, Tarrant county 211, while Collin county listed 58 new positive Covid-19 tests.

North Texas reported 7 additional deaths attributed to the virus, all of which were in Dallas county. In all, 480 new cases of the Coronavirus were reported in the DFW area.

Dallas county 74,628 cases (152 new), 964 deaths (7 new), 1.3% mortality rate

Tarrant county 43,726 cases (211 new), 591 deaths, 1.4% mortality rate

Denton county 10,916 cases (69 new), 105 deaths ( new), 1% mortality rate

Collin county 11,734 cases (58 new), 122 deaths, 1% mortality rate

Metroplex 141,004 cases (490 new), 1,782 deaths, 1.2% mortality rate

Texas 649,809 cases (3,852 new), 13,853 deaths (161 new), 2.1% mortality rate
