McKinney ISD Advises Parents that Social Distancing on Buses isn’t Possible

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – COVID-19 precautions are in place on McKinney ISD school buses but the district is advising parents that social distancing on those buses just isn’t possible.

According to district spokesman Cody Cunningham, about 65-percent of students in McKinney ISD are back in the classroom. Half of the student population rides the bus on average.

“Even in the best case scenario we are going to have students who are relatively close to each other on a bus,” Cunningham said.

The district is advising parents who are uncomfortable with students sitting close to one another that they may want to find another option.

MISD has added new bus cleaning protocols in between routes and will be requiring masks for all riders.

Students are asked to socially distance at bus stops and when loading from MISD campuses. Buses are being loaded back to front and unloaded from front to back whenever possible. Additionally, failure to keep a mask on while riding the bus or failure to have a mask upon arrival will result in
additional parent communication and possible suspension of services.
