DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Governor Greg Abbott are arguing on twitter about a proposed 2% pay increase for Dallas County elected officials. The Dallas County Commissioners are set to decide on the pay bump on Tuesday, in an effort to make Dallas County’s civil service jobs competitive with those in the private sector.
Governor Abbott wrote on Twitter, it’s the last thing that should happen and stated Jenkins stands to make more than $200,000 a year.
Jenkins replied, “Seriously? If you paid attention you would know I was the one who forced elected official salaries to be a separate vote from other employees and have never voted for these term increases. Jenkins said he doesn’t take these pay increased when the majority passes then over his objection.
He then told Abbott to focus on Covid-19 and the response to Hurricane Laura instead.
