Fifth District Court of Appeals Elects Republican Nominee to Fill Justice Bridges Spot

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Dallas Fifth District Court of Appeals Executive Committee members met at Dallas Baptist University to elect a nominee to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Justice David Bridges. The committee nominated Attorney John Browning from Rockwall to serve as the Republican nominee this November.

“I believe that he is a great fit for the position, he’s going to campaign hard and keep that seat held by a Republican this November,” said Will Busby with the Dallas GOP.

Bridges was tragically killed by a drunk driver in July. Busby said the committee also passed a resolution to honor him.

“Thanking his family for allowing him to serve us in so many different capacities over the years and just acknowledging the impact he left on our community,” said Busby.

The resolution will be presented to the family this week.
