ADDISON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Town of Addison is hosting several socially distanced and free concerts this weekend and in the weeks to come.
Addison’s Special Events Director Jasmine Lee said they’re launching drive-in concerts where you can listen to local bands, but still keep your distance by staying in your cars. “This is a great way to support our local businesses and our bands who haven’t had many gigs in a while,” said Lee while encouraging everyone to pick up food from a local restaurant to eat during the concert.
Lee said people are getting creative by setting up lawn chairs in the bed of their trucks, making use of convertibles and some are simply just rolling down their windows. If you want the AC, you can also tune into the concert on the radio.
“We want to support the local economy, give people something fun to do and make sure everyone stays safe while doing it,” said Lee.
The concerts will be located at 15499 Julian Street, just south of Addison Circle Park.
Parking for the concerts will open at 7:30 p.m. nightly, and cars will be directed to safe distances. Capacity is limited to 140 cars. If you book an Addison hotel if you wanted to enjoy a staycation, you would be guaranteed a front row parking space at both the Friday and Saturday night concerts.
Guests are asked to remain in or near their car during the entire performance.
