Dallas Mayor Requests Audit of Company Running COVID-19 Test Site

Mayor Eric Johnson

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The company running one of the largest COVID-19 testing sites in the metroplex is now under the microscope.

The Honu Management Group operates the Eastfield College test site under a $14-million contract being paid by the City of Dallas and Dallas County. It previously ran the site at the University of Dallas.

The City of Dallas is now auditing the company.

“We have to run a tight ship,” said Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.

Johnson wants to make sure Honu was properly vetted.

“It’s about checking references and whether or not those references were checked,” said the Mayor.

Local leaders question whether or not Honu is fulfilling an obligation to return test results in 72 hours. Recent reports also suggest that the company, under a different name, was mentioned in an investigation into a Washington state kickback scheme.
