Southwest Airlines Dials Back Cleaning Procedures

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) –  In an effort to return to faster turnaround times, Dallas based Southwest Airlines has reportedly cut back on cleaning procedures.

According to a memo to flight attendants obtained by USA TODAY, the airline is no longer cleaning armrests and seat belts between flights.  High touch areas like bathrooms and tray tables will still be wiped down.  The newspaper says enhanced cleaning will continue nightly and each plane will still under go monthly electrostatic cleaning.  If customers want to wipe down their seats themselves, the airline will offer sanitizing wipes upon request.
