DALLAS- Isaias snapped trees, knocked out power and caused some flooding in the Bahamas, before moving toward Florida and being slightly downgraded in strength to tropical storm status. However, the storm is expected to again grow to hurricane strength before making landfall overnight or early Sunday morning in Florida.
Authorities have closed beaches, marinas and parks in Florida, and evacuation of some North Carolina outer islands is underway as a precaution. Some watches have been posted along ocean edged areas in Georgia. The storm is expected to hug the southeast U S coast as it makes it way north, and then, as it breaks up, continue to dump heavy rainfall through parts of the Ohio Valley and then the Great Lakes region and eastward to the Maritimes and Atlantic.
U S National Hurricane Center says the storms’ maximum sustained winds declined steadily through Saturday, near 70 miles an hour/110 kilometers per hour at 5 pm EST
