(WBAP/KLIF) — The Coronavirus has now taken the lives of more than one thousand North Texans. With 53 deaths over the last two days, the Metroplex now has 1,016 COVID-19 related deaths. The surge caused a slight uptick in the mortality rate which rose from 1.2% to 1.3%.
Dallas county has over 44,000 cases and 579 deaths, while Tarrant county reports almost 24,000 infections and 319 fatalities. Denton listed more than 5,700 cases and 46 deaths, while Collin county recently updated it’s number to eliminate duplicate cases to show nearly 5,600 cases and 72 deaths.
Just over 1,400 newly infected North Texans were discovered Thursday, bringing the pandemic total to over 79,000. Dallas county reported 648 new cases and 12 additional deaths, the only county listing new fatalities including a man in his 30s.
Tarrant county had 431 new infections, Denton county 179, and Collin county indicated 170 additional positive tests. Statewide, more than 9,500 new cases and 173 deaths were reported.
