LEWISVILLE (WBAP/KLIF)- Operation Homefront plans to give out backpacks and school supplies to around 500 military children in DFW.
Registration is now open until July 29th for the Operation Homefront’s Back-To-School Brigade.
Robin Miller with Operation Homefront said those who register can come to the event on August 1st from 9 am to 12 pm at the Lewisville VFW location at VFW Post 9168 Lewisville 997 E TX-121.
Miller said it’s going to help the military families stretch their dollars and with Covid-19 that’s important now more than ever. “Even though students don’t know if they will be returning to school in person or starting out online, they need those basic supplies and really getting the semblance of normalcy will hopefully bring back some of that excitement for the start of the school year,” said Miller.
Miller said each kid will get a backpack with as many school supplies on their list as possible. “We have plenty of slots open right now and have amazing supporters that are coming out that have some special things they are providing to the families…I don’t want to give it away but I will say it’ll be beyond just backpacks and school supplies,” she said.
