Tarrant County Confirms First West Nile Virus Death of 2020

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- As COVID-19 continues to spread, another seasonal virus has surfaced in north Texas.

Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) on Tuesday reported the first West Nile Virus death of 2020. This is also the first human case of the virus this year. The victim was a senior from Fort Worth with underlying medical conditions.

The virus can effect anyone but those over the age of 50 run a higher risk of severe infection. Some infected people can experience symptoms such as headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea or a rash. Most victims recover completely.
