ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Arlington Independent School District outlined its policy to provide free and reduced-price meals for children who qualify for 2020-2021 school year.
Starting Monday, applications for the program will be available at the AISD Food and Nutrition Services Office at 5816 W. Arkansas Lane.
On August 5th, AISD will send letters to the households of children in the district detailing eligibility benefits and any actions households need to take to apply for benefits.
The district said on-line applications are the fastest way to determine meal benefits but paper applications will be available after August 10th at school sites.
According to AISD, to qualify for aid, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- INCOME: Household income that is at or below the income eligibility levels.
- CATEGORICAL OR AUTOMATIC ELIGIBILITY: Households receiving Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Food Distribution Program on Indain Reservations (FDPIR)
- PROGRAM PARTICIPANT: Child’s status as a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant or displaced by a declared disaster.
