Fort Worth Businesses Can Pick up Free Masks July 1st

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Fort Worth businesses can pick up free masks Wednesday July, 1st from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. The masks are funded by a CARES Act grant from the City of Fort Worth.

There are 8 distribution locations across the city, including several Fort Worth Library locations.

Jarratt Watkins Director of Fort Worth Now says city businesses are eligible for up to 250 masks each by presenting a business card and you don’t need to pre-register.

“Given the mandate that businesses require there customers to wear masks inside their premises we are trying to find a way to alleviate some of the burden on those businesses,” said Watkins. “People wearing masks is going to be a key part of our ability to keep Fort Worth open as much as possible” he said.

Partners on this project include the City of Fort Worth, Visit Fort Worth, Fort Worth Now, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce. Watkins said working together, they are able to provide 250,000 masks.

“I’ve always maintained that I never want to place unnecessary burdens on the backs of our businesses, especially as they are already struggling due to COVID-19,” said Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, “That is why it is critical we come together and support our businesses in any way possible, including providing masks to ensure the health of both customers and employees. I appreciate all the partners who came together to make this happen.”
