(WBAP/KLIF) — The Metroplex saw another day of over a thousand new cases of COVID-19. The new hot spot for the Coronavirus seems to be Tarrant county, where 517 new positive tests were confirmed, Thursday. that brought the state’s third largest county to over 10,300 cases.

Dallas county reported another 403 infected residents for over 18,500 cases in all. Collin & Denton counties combined for 114 new COVID-19 cases, putting each county just under 2,500. North Texas reports almost 34,000 of the state’s 132,000 plus cases.
North Texas lost another 10 residents to the pandemic, Thursday. Dallas county reports 6 new fatalities, while Tarrant county had three, and Collin county one. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins is concerned about hospital beds as the number of beds being used has jumped 88% in just 24 days.
In all, the Metroplex has experienced 629 deaths due to COVID-19, while the falling mortality rate is now at 1.9%. The statewide death rate has lowered to 1.7%.
