FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- The Fort Worth Police Department is outraged after they say Fox News Political Commentator Tucker Carlson shared inaccurate information regarding the May 31st riots in Fort Worth. The department said Carlson reported “protesters looted and vandalized businesses and dozens of rioters were arrested for this” and Carlson went on to say that Chief Ed Kraus “dropped all charges against the rioters.” The Fort Worth Police department stated that this information is “absolutely inaccurate and is not consistent with the actual facts.” Fort Worth assured the public in a Facebook post that the only charges dropped were minor misdemeanors which did not involve property or personal crimes.
“Carlson also went on to say that Chief Kraus suggested in a released statement that he believed those who were committing crimes were Fort Worth officers. That is absolutely outrageous to here that. I just can’t fathom that statement,” said Fort Worth Officer Pollozani.
The department called Carlson statements “a gross mischaracterization” of any statement released by Chief Kraus or the department.
“Having false information out there is definitely a detriment to the morale of the officers, to our supporters in he community and has a negative affect on law enforcement,” said Pollozani. “Recklessly releasing such inaccurate, unverified information does nothing for the good of the public and simply creates an environment of confusion and bitterness during a time in which so many are wanting their voices heard.”
The Fort Worth Police Department said they want to reassure the community, officers, and the nation that the department is committed to ensuring timely and accurate information is disseminated to the public while remaining transparent.
