DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Dallas Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Allan Springer has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The since deleted comment on a post about black lives matter protests read “No s*** we need to find out who’s behind this and find a good tree to use!” This comment was made after someone questioned if bricks were dropped off to incite riots.
Springer said he wasn’t referring to lynching and his comment was taken out of context.

Dallas Fire Fighters Association President Capt. Jim McDade replied to Springer on Facebook saying, “Sorry chief but that is unbelievably offensive and inappropriate. I respect you as a BC and a firefighter but I’m appalled. Feel free to delete me, call me out, or do whatever you want.”

Our media partner WFAA-TV said Springer oversees six fire stations within the city and over 60 employees.

Dallas Fire Rescue released a statement saying they are aware of the post. “The member has been placed on administrative leave while the department’s Internal Affairs Division investigates the matter. Although our findings will determine next steps, we regret any perception of insensitivity by any city employee. Violations of any city policy (including Administrative Directive 2-52 regarding social media and social networking) will be addressed with swift and appropriate action. We all want answers and justice, and are pursuing both with fairness and urgency. At a time of deep pain resulting from crisis and unrest, we will make progress as One Dallas with empathy, ethics, excellence, and equity,” the statement read.
