Visit Dallas Given Another Five Years

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Dallas City Council has elected to renew its contract with Visit Dallas for another five years.

The tourism organization was hampered with accusations of tax money misuse a year ago, which led to the resignations of top level executives.  The city council, Wednesday, approved a five year, $79.3 million contract to promote tourism.

Both former CEO and chief financial officer of Visit Dallas resigned, last year, after an audit questioned the organization’s use of millions of tax dollars. In response, newly hired President Craig Davis scaled back his board and accepted a reduced cut of of the hotel occupancy tax.

Council member Chad West showed optimism, but said continued scrutiny is necessary.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Bisit Dallas cut $2 million in programming and $2.5 million in personnel costs.
