(WBAP/KLIF) — A Dallas fire chief is taking heat for an offensive social media post. Battalion Chief Allan Springer answered a Facebook user’s question about those inciting riots.
The user asked if someone was dropping off bricks during a Black Lives Matter protest. Springer responded “we need to find out who’s behind this and find a good tree to use”. City council member Casey Thomas found the comment racially insensitive and called for action to either terminate or demote Springer.
The city of Dallas employs around 700 black firefighters. According to WFAA, Springer oversees six Dallas fire stations.
