DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn is calling for Congress to pass the anti-lynching law on top of other reforms he says are necessary.
Cornyn supports a National Registry on Use of Force as well as funding for police training.
“Out of tragedy like this, this question I always ask is, ‘Can something good come out of this?’ and I think in George Floyd’s memory, to honor his memory, something good can come out of this,” Cornyn said during a Thursday conference call with reporters.
Cornyn also supports a National Criminal Justice Commission similar to the 9/11 Commission.
“Which would study the problem and then make recommendations to Congress and Congress would act on it,” Cornyn said.
Cornyn will be in Dallas Friday to hold a roundtable discussion on police reforms with Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
