Dallas Police Chief Explains Actions from Monday Night Bridge Protest

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall is assuring the public the hundreds of protesters detained Monday night on the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge are being charged with obstructing a roadway.

Hall says activists were released over concerns of overcrowding the jail.

“They were identified, processed and charges will be filed. There was a capacity issue last night and that’s why we made the decision,” Hall said Tuesday.

Chief Hall maintains that anyone who breaks the law will be arrested but commended protesters for being peaceful.

More demonstrations over the death of George Floyd are planned in Dallas.
