DALLAS/FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – More Texans are driving amid the easing of covid-19 restrictions and that’s lead to an increase in gas prices.
AAA Texas’ Daniel Armbruster said prices in Dallas Fort Worth have increased six cents, hovering around $1.62 per gallon of regular unleaded.
Drivers in El Paso are paying the most in Texas on average at $1.86 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
Residents in Sherman Denison are paying the least at $1.55 per gallon of regular unleaded.
The national average sits at $1.97 for a gallon of regular unleaded, that’s up four cents more than compared to this time last week.
He said analysts expect this trend to continue.
“In the past few weeks we’ve seen the demand for gasoline slightly increase and we anticipate for that trend continue and as for demand continues to pick back up we’ll see demand for crude oil pick back up,” he said.
Industry analysts said the global oil industry is rebounding partially due to the Saudis and Russians working together to cut supply in a sustainable way amid the pandemic.
