Six Flags Theme Parks to Roll Out Reservation System

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – American theme parks are beginning to assemble plans to reopen after the coronavirus forced many of them to close in March. But, the approach is different across the industry.

Disney’s Shanghai resort has reopened under limited capacity. Florida’s Universal Orlando is opening its City Walk promenade with screening measures in place.

But, Six Flags theme parks have a different idea. The company is requiring visitors to make advanced reservations to limit capacity and allow for social distancing. Guests will be able to book a reservation online when opening dates are set. Visitors will need to schedule a day and a time. Parking will be pre-paid. Guidelines are still be worked out surrounding sanitizing the rides.

“In the interest of meeting national, regional, and expert social distancing guidelines, we will be setting capacity limits for each of our parks,” Six Flags said in a statement. “Without a reservation system, there is the risk that more guests will show up than we are able to accommodate. Our reservation system allows guests to know in advance, before they arrive at the park whether they will be allowed to enter.”

None of the chain’s 26 parks have announced an opening date yet.
