Dallas Signs Contract with Wello to Install Temperature Taking Machines in City Buildings

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- An Addison-based company signed a contract with the City of Dallas to have it’s machines installed inside city buildings to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The WelloStation device scans your face to determine if you have a fever, without having to touch you. “The sensor is pointing to a place right around your forehead, where your glasses hang on the top of your nose, and that’s the hotspot for detecting fever,” said Wello CEO Rik Heller.

Heller said a fever is the first sign of contagiousness and believes having these at the entrance of city buildings will help limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

The process takes 2-3 seconds and will print out a ‘well being’ sticker with your picture and time stamp on it to show you are able to go inside the building.

“We started this back in the days of Ebola but for the city, it’s a new contract ,” said Heller. “We are going to fulfill this contract as quickly as possible. We are in solid manufacturing right now moving quickly as possible,” he said.

Heller said these stations have already been installed at the Dallas Love Field Airport and will be at the entrances of other city buildings.
